The Nike Kobe 4 Protro “Philly” officially releases on April 13th through Nike SNKRS and select retailers. The shoes are part of a “Mamba Day” trio dropping on the 13th that includes the Kobe 6 “Italian Camo” and Kobe 8 “Venice Beach” in honor of the eight-year anniversary of Kobe’s last game.
Kobe Bryant obviously never played for Philadelphia, but his signature shoes have alluded to his hometown on several occasions. The Kobe 4 “Philly” first dropped in 2009 just months before the Lakers won the NBA championship, with the Mamba winning his first finals MVP that year. It’s one of the most sought-after Kobe’s on the market, with current resale prices approaching quadruple digits.
The Protro follows the original with red, white, and blue makeup, evoking the Philadelphia 76ers and Kobe’s 2002 All-Star appearance in Philly, where he won MVP in front of friends and family.
See shopping/raffle links ahead of the shoe’s April 13th release below. In related news, check out the Kobe 8s worn by the UConn Huskies en route to back-to-back NCAA championships.
