The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 Goes Camo With Lemon Twist Accents

Even in the most urban landscapes, trail shoes and other outdoors-inspired sneakers have taken the streets by force. While Nike captures the trend well under the ACG umbrella, they’ve also shown a tendency to give their lifestyle classics nature-minded overhauls.

The Nike Air Max 1 ’86 “Camo” fits perfectly within that realm, delivering an eccentric composition of outdoor-worthy fabrics and thoughtful details. Camouflage canvas set the tone, covering the mudguard, quarter, and heel panels in muted shades of brown and green. Open mesh rests just underneath, followed by what appears to be an internal layer of clear TPU plastic under the toe box portion of the base.

Meanwhile, the shoe’s various branded elements inject some welcome flair through a vibrant “Lemon Twist” shade. Collegiate “NIKE” text appears at the rear of the left shoe while an oversized Swoosh displays prominently on the right, adding even more uniqueness to a design that’s already pretty far “out there.” Moreover, as an ’86 version of the Air Max 1, the shoes feature a big bubble Air unit underfoot. The midsole itself comes painted in dark brown to match the lining up top, concluding a busy design.

Enjoy official images below and mark your calendar for the shoe’s release on May 30th for $160, a slight hike from the model’s typical $150 mark given its non-traditional character.
