As we begin preparing for the 40th anniversary of the Air Jordan 1, an additional OG colorway enters the mix. Reports have surfaced regarding a patent leather version of the Air Jordan 1 “Black/White” on the slate for Spring 2025, built on the ’85 cut that returns to the model’s beginnings.
This patent leather theme was most famously explored via 2021’s Jordan 1 “Patent Bred,” printing the glossy material onto one of the most iconic sneakers in the hobby. It’s currently unknown whether this shoe will follow in that one’s footsteps with a total material overhaul or opt for a more meted application. Nonetheless, this also continues the reprisal of OG AJ1 colorways with hardware switch ups more generally. While the “Reimagined” subtitle isn’t currently attached to this pair, this news also calls to mind the suede update to the “Royal” that landed last year.
With the Air Jordan 1 “Bred” already confirmed for next year, it’s highly likely that more 1985 colorways will join these two pairs as the silhouette celebrates four decades on the market. More details are sure to emerge either way as we approach the release date for the Air Jordan 1 “Patent Panda,” currently projected for Spring 2025. For now, keep an eye on our Jordan Release Dates 2024 page for the latest.
Looking ahead on that schedule, the Travis Scott Jordan 1 Low “Elkins” and Air Jordan 4 “Olympic” highlight some huge upcoming releases for Jordan Brand.
