The following article was published on May 30th, 2024:

Few could have predicted that an under-the-rader running shoe released in 2011 would enter mainstream consciousness over a decade after its debut, but alas, the ASICS GT-2160 has found new life. The shoe stands alongside models like the GEL-Kayano 14 and GEL-NYC at the forefront of the tech-runner wave, and much like the latter of those models, has been made widely available through a colossal assortment of GR colorways. Now with eyes towards summer, a new “Sweet Pink” pair for women builds on that growing abundance.

Starting from the bottom, the titular hue lands gently on the outsole before decorating reflective overlays across the upper, adding a splash of color to a clean white base. The design choices on display here should be familiar among those who have stayed current with new GT-2160 colorways, but notably, wide mesh sits at the base and white leather appears near the toe and eyelets. Those features aren’t necessarily standard or irregular by definition, but speak to the model’s seamless embrace of multiple “same but different” color blocking patterns and material compositions.

The ASICS GT-2160 “Sweet Pink” is set to launch in women’s sizes on June 1st for $120. Enjoy detailed images here and return to our “Where To Buy” section for direct purchase links upon the shoe’s release.

Staying with ASICS, check out the newly surfaced GEL-Kayano 14 “Metallic Pastel” earmarked for Summer/Fall 2024.
