The annual Nike N7 collection is soon to be revealed, highlighting athletes of Indigenous backgrounds who are demonstrating positive change within the community. Through its limited release product, Nike commits itself to promoting activity and exercise by dedicating proceeds to organizations that share the same mission. Part of this collection is the Air Max 1, revealed here via Nike official images.
At the forefront of Nike Sportwear’s archival hits, the Air Max 1 appears in a breathtaking color palette of light orange and blue shades against a black suede mudguard and a sesame-colored midsole. Thick ribbon laces and exposed stitchwork add to the traditional appearance of the shoe, although the spirit remains true to the 1987 running shoe classic. N7 logos appear just on the tongue and insole, with a special barb of Swoosh logos sitting as the foundation of the emblem.
Just recently, Alissa Pili, a Nike N7 athlete and newest member of the Minnesota Lynx, was just signed as a Nike Basketball athlete. From her days in Anchorage to hooping for USC and Utah, Pili represents the Polynesian and Indigenous people in the WNBA on behalf the Swoosh, whose N7 initiative has been promoting health, exercise and activity in Native communities.
Nike is set to drop the 2024 N7 collection this June; expect this Air Max 1 ($160) and more to be revealed soon.
