While some sneakerheads have grown tired of pre-aged midsoles since the trend took off a couple years back, New Balance’s methods have been largely praised.
The grey market for “oxidized” New Balance colorways is thriving, with most pairs that rock the washed-out aesthetic selling for well above retail. That’s a testament to the popularity of select New Balance silos independently, sure, but to give credit where it’s due; New Balance designers have found a bonafide crowd-pleasure in this particular design theme.
This upcoming New Balance 2002R keeps the oxidized aesthetic to a minimum, presented on a black-washed midsole. In producing a more reserved look up top, the upper revolves around a simple “Black/Grey” mix across suede, leather, and mesh, with reflective hits on the New Balance logo and heel.
Pairs should drop via New Balance and retailers in the near future for $145, although no firm release date has been floated at the time of this writing. Know that our Sneaker Release Dates page will be updated with all the latest available information as we learn more over the coming weeks/months.
Pivoting to another hot New Balance shoe, the New Balance 550 continues to surface in new colorways.
