Nike continues to provide members of its sponsored Elite Youth Basketball League with special player edition footwear, surfacing a new Kobe 8 Protro for girls.
Officially introduced as the “Nike Basketball Academy Kobe” on Instagram, the shoe features a soft crimson tint alongside some special branding and detailing. The base subtly fades from pink to white as you move from the top-down, and upon close inspection, the top portion of the sole comes decorated by splattered paint. Much like the purple EYBL Kobe 8 PE that arrived at the start of the season earlier this year, we also see gold wax-like EYBL branding on the tongue akin to that of top shelf liquor bottles (and the red “Bin 23” stamp used on Jordan shoes). The Swoosh, Kobe signature, and other ancillary elements add contrast in black, including text reading “EYBL Fam’ Reunion” on the medial heel. Underfoot, a semi-translucent outsole rounds out the design.
As a player edition, the Kobe 8 Protro “EYBL” isn’t expected to release. However, there are a handful of other Kobe Bryant shoes expected to drop later this year. Tap our Sneaker Release Dates page for a full preview.
