Following a strategy we’re all familiar with by now, Nike brought their historic waffle-soled runner back with a wave of Stussy LD-1000 releases. While those collaborative pairs certainly stand on their own merits, they’re earnestly meant as an appetizer for a full course of mainline LD-1000 colorways that’ll arrive in the weeks ahead. Doubling down on its vintage construction, the latest look goes to the West Coast for a “UCLA” arrangement.
Since the LD-1000 traces its origins back to the 1970s, embracing the collegiate running space (as a then-burgeoning Nike once did) makes a ton of sense. The retooled shape and more vibrant shades in this application are functionally the only key differences. Much the same way that the Nike Cortez has gone from best-in-class performance runner to laidback lifestyle option, it’s evident that Nike has aims towards the LD-1000 tapping into a daily-driver sort of life, and easily worn colorways like the one on offer here make it easy to understand why.
The Nike LD-1000 “UCLA” releases this Fall, retailing for $100. Catch official images included just below while we wait for more concrete info.
