In the canon of Air Jordans, there are a few themes that make repeated appearances. Bulls colors are always a safe bet to be reimagined, as are white & black “Cement” versions. There’s a special place for #23’s college days. The Air Jordan 1 has claim to one of the more iconic takes on that era, and soon, a more accessible version will hit shelves via the Air Jordan 1 Low “Legend Blue.”

Refracting the two-tone sensibilities of both the 2015 pair and next year’s expected Air Jordan 1 “UNC Reimagined,” this low-cut grafts patent leather onto the overlays for a new dose of energy on an old formula. Additionally, the decreased price tag makes getting your hands on a pair of these a much more palatable proposition for those who don’t have to wait for a new calendar year or shell out upwards of $400.

Importantly, this isn’t even the first time that a “UNC” 1 has rolled out with the reflective material. The “Blue Chill” stands as the most recent, but a truer comparison is 2003’s “UNC Patent,” released during the height of the titular hardware and during a run of jeweled Wings logo AJ1s. Regardless of historical precedent, the cleaned-up aesthetics of this pair do genuinely speak for themselves, and they’re a match for any Jordan afficianado’s rotation.

Keep an eye out for the Air Jordan 1 Low “Legend Blue” in coming weeks, expected with a $125 retail price for men’s sizes.
