As evidence by the popularity of the New Balance 550, 1906R, and 860v2, New Balance excels at resurrecting archived models. Another commonality between those three shoes, on top of being off shelves and forgotten before staging celebrated comebacks, have been Aimé Leon Dore collaborations.
With ALD founder Teddy Santis also being creative director of the New Balance MADE In USA program, the two parties have one of the most formidable sneaker brand-collaborator relationships in the industry; one that’s often been leveraged to help re-introduce new product. Now continuing that trend, the New York City brand is putting its name on two fresh New Balance 475 colorways, helping stoke buzz around the silhouette’s wider resurgence.
Seen here via official Aimé Leon Dore images is the grey/green ALD x New Balance 475 that Santis teased on social media earlier this year. Consistent with our first preview, the shoe features intricately stitched New Balance quarter logos and a pre-aged leather backtab for a clear vintage look and feel; nothing new for Aimé Leon Dore.
Its counterpart is a bit more intriguing. The shoe features the same branding style as the grey/green colorway, but there’s a larger color palette at play. Surely evoking memories of the multi-colored ALD x New Balance 997 pack from 2019, Santis’ imprint brings scattered blue, navy, yellow, and red accents, comprising a playfully preppy aesthetic.
Broad release information hasn’t been made public at the time of this writing, but some Aimé Leon Dore customers are reportedly getting early access emails with purchase links. Know that this page as well as our Sneaker Release Dates hub will display all the most recent information as it comes in.
