Though the major 30 year celebration for the Nike Air Max 95 won’t kick off in earnest until next year, Nike has been giving special attention to the silhouette plenty in 2024, unveiling a “City Series” dedicated to Atlanta & Toronto in the past few months. While it eschews that geographical theme for a geological one instead, a new special edition has just emerged, an “Erosion” themed drop set to hit SNKRS in short order.
The concept is laid plain on the insoles and the box, promising this shoe as “the Air Max 95 as if unearthed by the process of erosion.” To that end, the lateral side of the shoe executes a rather staid combination for the AM95, jumping from black to navy blue to white on the iconic side waves. On the medial, however, it’s a more earthy blend, stacking layers of soil-like shades to hit on the archeological motif that carries this design.
An easily translatable concept, that aesthetic choice and the special edition touches in the margins seem, at first glance, to be the major changes with this shoe. However, assuredly as the release draws closer, official word from Nike will flesh out the story a bit more. Speaking of – the Nike Air Max 95 “Erosion” is currently slated for a September 30th release via SNKRS.
