Nike’s revitalization of early 2000s footwear continues with the Shox Ride 2; another Y2K running style to coincide with the Shox R4 and Shox TL. While those two models had been brought back a handful of times before their most recent renaissance, the Shox Ride 2 will kick off its first true retro run in the near future (discounting a Supreme collab in 2022). This “Baroque Brown” colorway is expected to play a role in the model’s comeback effort.
Just as we’ve seen throughout the aforementioned Nike Shox reruns, contemporary colorways look poised to play a role in the Ride 2’s return to market. Leather overlays sport “Baroque Brown” with “Summit White” contrast stitching here, complemented by “Phantom” TPU and mesh underneath. “Diffused Blue” plays a small but impactful role, pasted onto the Swoosh logos and upper eyestays. Notably, the Ride 2 differs from most Nike Shox with visible Air units near the forefoot, delivering two of Nike’s most significant footwear innovations in one stroke. Both cushioning systems appear in “Anthracite” to match the outsole, with “Phantom” returning on the main midsole portion.
The Shox Ride 2 has yet to begin its retro campaign at the time of this writing, but we can expect to see pairs start tricking out in late 2024. This “Baroque Brown” colorway is currently projected for Spring 2025; return periodically to our Sneaker Release Dates hub for further updates.
