Hip-hop and sneakers have always gone hand-in-hand, but the title of rap’s foremost sneakerhead is seemingly always shifting. Long-time heads know that Wale and Fat Joe each held air-tight arguments for that moniker, but it’s hard to argue with Lil Yachty in the younger generation.

On top of boasting a massive personal collection, the “Strike” rapper is increasingly becoming part of the fabric over in Beaverton, factoring into the promo efforts behind Nigel Sylvester’s Jordan 4 RM, modeling for the latest Nike x Cactus Plant Flea Market link-up, and even appearing on the SNKRS platform towards the top of 2024. The partnership is set to become formal with the public release of his “Concrete Boys” Air Force 1, now fully revealed via official retail shots.

Retail Images (Adult Sizing, GR Colorway)

Previous music-meets-shoes pairs for “Utopia,” “Certified Lover Boy” or “Eternal Atake 2” set up the precedent for this release, but Yachty comparatively brings a more transformative touch to his edition. While an all-white Air Force 1 remains the base, he harkens to the silhouette’s general releases of the 2000s with matched navy sock-liners and outsoles. Yachty’s affinity for that period is well-documented, as F&F versions of this very shoe allude to the work of Nigo and AF1 colorways like the “West Indies.”

The allusions to his collective are heavy here; a stickman “Concrete Boys” logo appears at the heel, reflected further on the box that echoes the collective’s trademark adlib and closes out with their alternate logos on opposite corners.

The Lil Yachty Air Force 1 “Concrete Boys” is widely projected to debut at ComplexCon from November 16th to the 17th. Retailer images emerging in this fashion speak to a broader release, expected to follow shortly after.
