Andrew Rizzo What do you get when you pack several fashion trends into one shoe? An adidas cowhide boot, that’s what. Meet the adidas Rasant Mid; a total re-imagination of the archival Rasant silhouette featuring an elaborate upper inspired by vintage adidas motorsports shoes.
The footwear trends that come into play here are plentiful. For one, the Rasant Mid features an extraordinarily slim sole akin to that of the Samba as well as competitors like the PUMA Speedcat. Two; much like how we’ve seen over at PUMA, the shoe takes inspiration from adidas’ motorsports archive, specifically the Monza boot from the 1980s with similar heel paneling. The third and final trend on display here has nothing to do with the model itself, but the faux cowhide material that comprises the upper. Cowboy boots and other Americana-core footwear has been on the upswing for years now, and this is perhaps adidas’ way of hopping on the bandwagon.
The adidas Rasant Mid “Cowhide” runs in women’s sizing and is slated to arrive at European retailers like Asphaltgold in mid-December. No global release date has been announced at the time of this writing, but it’s possible we’ll see these come stateside during the Spring 2025 shopping season.
