A decade and change after its initial release, the Nike Kobe 8 “What The” will join the Protro canon in 2025. Following rumors of the shoe’s return earlier this summer, we just got hit with our most detailed look to date.
As with most Protro’d Kobe’s, the upcoming “What The” Kobe 8 looks identical to the 2013 version. The pair brings nearly thirty Kobe 8 colorways to a helm, with the left shoe embracing blues and purples and the right favoring greens and reds.
Notably, the “What The” stands as one of the most sought-after Kobe 8 colorways there is. The shoe hovered at around 4x retail on the aftermarket upon releasing, and like countless other Kobe Bryant shoes, prices skyrocketed the early 2020s.
Thankfully, fans won’t need to stare down four-digit asks for much longer. The Kobe 8 Protro “What The” is slated to release April 13th, 2025, or “Mamba Day” as it’s come to be known in Nikeland. See detailed images below and tap our Sneaker Release Dates page to preview other upcoming Kobe drops.
