Likely releasing for Spring '25.

Nike Outfits The Hybrid Air Max Waffle Racer In “Matte Olive”

While initial reactions to the Nike Air Max Waffle Racer, previewed in a SNKRS showcase earlier in 2024, were mixed — Nike may have a budding hit on their hands. The sheer dissonance in design language has managed to strike a cord with a certain sector of Swoosh devotees, marking sell-outs in all three of the colorways that’ve hit the public so far. So why slow down now? A fresh colorway of the Air Max Waffle Racer has just hit the ‘newswire, carrying an earthy blend of “Matte Olive” and “Gum Light Brown.”

The color combo may not be anything super off-the-wall; it’s a complementary blend that’s been utilized plenty throughout the Nike catalog. However, venturing away from OG looks of either of the component models (the purple colorway pulling from the Air Max Plus’ origins while the “Action Green” dips into the 70s heritage of the Waffle Racer), is certainly something noteworthy. Additionally, the adjacency between the featured shades almost helps to de-emphasize the mashup construction. It’ll be interesting to see which side of the equation, totally attention-grabbing or reigned-in, Beaverton creatives explore more with the Air Max Waffle Racer, but at least in our view, the early returns have been surprisingly impressive.

The Nike Air Max Waffle Racer “Matte Olive” is expected to hit shelves in Spring ’25, retailing at $140. Check out official images included below.
