Nike Delivers Retro Vibes With The Air Max 2013 “Athletic Department”

Nike is reprising its ongoing “Athletic Department” design theme series with an Air Max 2013 in Spring 2025.

Those familiar with the Beaverton brand’s various mini-series need little preview, but to the uninitiated; Nike’s “Athletic Department” shoes almost always feature a retro aesthetic and special detailing to match. The central theme introduces itself on the insoles here, where serif “Nike Athletic Department” text appears alongside coordinates leading to Nike HQ; just like gym equipment from the 70s and 80s. The lining and Swoosh border appear in “Metallic Cool Grey,” adding some intrigue to an otherwise monochrome synthetic upper, while the outsole and full-length Air unit appear in gum brown, aptly keeping with the vintage theme at hand.

As mentioned, the Air Max 2013 “Athletic Department” is due out Spring 2025 and is suspected to retail for the usual $170 MSRP. See official images below if you’re considering picking up a pair.
