Andrew Rizzo Even the wackiest shoes can win people over in time, even the controversial New Balance 1906 loafer. While the formal take on the trending 1906R runner was expectedly met with mixed feelings upon surfacing in 2024, the months that have since passed have seen more and more haters change their tune.
There’s nothing traditional about sneakers-turned-loafers, but in comparison to every New Balance 1906L thus far, this pair strikes a far more agreeable note. Mesh is replaced by black suede up top here, lending a more accurate depiction of true loafers and other formal options. New Balance is also coming out with a likeminded “Rich Oak” colorway featuring a suede upper, with both options concluding with dark grey midsoles underfoot.
