New Balance has done a great job of shifting focus, swapping the bulk of their efforts to current dominant silhouettes like the New Balance 9060 and New Balance 1906R as sentiment has shifted away from the New Balance 550. However, the silhouette still has plenty of appeal as an accessible lifestyle offering, and the Boston brand continues to ensure consumers have fresh options to fill out the rotation, exactly the case with the New Balance 550 “Dream State” that just hit retailers.

Capitalizing on the sort of simplistic looks that dominated its 2020-ish heyday, the titular aquatic shade paints the suede mudguard, dots the collar and sticks out towards the heel counter. Outside of that “Dream State” tone, the rest of this New Balance 550 colorway should be easily digestible for those familiar with the silhouette, executing a white leather foundation, trademark NB grey hits and the ever-present faux-aged midsole.
