At this point, the New Balance 1906R is squarely the brand’s cash cow, one of the defining faces of the tech runner movement. Wide consumer adoption of the silhouette has led the brand to spin it off into a number of reimagined offshoots, including the silhouette at hand.
Its industrial design language is immediately apparent, of course using classic 1906R construction as the jumping-off point but extending the overlay panels and adding roughened edges, while also pulling the “N-lock” threads far beyond their typical bounds. In the early life of the 1906A, the brand has largely kept to easily digestible colorways. Though the New Balance 1906A “Olive Juice” does indeed keep traditional hits of a white mesh foundation and faux-aged midsole, the combination of titular green hues and deeply contrasting purple does make for one of the more experimental outfits we’ve seen yet.
