Up Close With The Nike SB Air Max 95 “Cactus Flower”

Nike is only getting started with the Air Max 95. With a remodeled Air unit and true-to-OG shape, Nike’s darling runner smack-dab from the mid-1990s is poised to have its greatest year year off the strength of a formidable product line-up that includes Retro colorways, collaborative projects, and cross-category explorations. From that last category, there’s none as piquing like the Nike SB Air Max 95, the first-ever skate-ready diffusion of the bubbled runner.

With sample pairs emerging not long ago, we’re now getting the best look yet at one of the confirmed release pairs — the “Cactus Flower” colorway. Adorned with the signature grey gradient color scheme on the upper, Nike subjects it with a dousing of a Cactus Flower hue on the Air units, eyelets, and surrounding branding. Nike SB appears for the first time on the heel, insoles, and even the exposed Air chamber on the bottoms which also feature a woodgrain pattern.

What makes these different from a standard Air Max 95 is a modified outsole for better traction and thicker padding for boardfeel. Interestingly, the Air unit seen on this sample is that of the older generation with the noticeably smaller volume (visually) and without the horizontal seam. It is unclear if the released version will have the updated version, but considering the amount of wear and tear the bubbles will go through during a skate session, it remains to be seen.

For now, explore a closer look at this “Cactus Flower” Nike SB Air Max 95 below; in related news, the Air Max 95 OG “Neon” is set to launch again on April 18th.
