The Nike Air Max TL 2.5 Breaks Away From Classic Color-Blocking

Baltic Blues and Barely Volts add some pizzazz.

The Nike Air Max TL 2.5 Breaks Away From Classic Color-Blocking

The relaunch of the Nike Air Max TL 2.5 was met with fanfare when Comme des Garcons first ushered in the 2000s-era runner a year ago. Now that the product is back in the retro cycle, we can’t really say it’s been a massive hit like the Air Max 95 has been.

Comparing the two is unfair. The 95 has a true legacy, whereas the TL 2.5 represents a blip of time when Nike was still figuring out what their next great cushioning innovation was. Air Max had run its course, Shox was becoming more of a gimmick, Free was getting boring, and Nike hadn’t completely finished up its Lunar just year. The mid-2000s was truly an odd time for Nike Running.

The Air Max TL 2.5 could use some energy, whether it be breaking away from colorway convention like we’re seeing in this Black/Baltic Blue/Barely Volt edition, or perhaps with some collaborations or exclusives. Given how the silhouette isn’t a top priority for Nike, we doubt the latter will occur.

That said, if you’re onboard the Air Max TL 2.5 train, find these soon on Nike.com for $180.
