Andrew Rizzo The ASICS GEL-Kayano 20 has seen a bevy of collaborations since being pulled from the archives last year, including projects by KENZO, Bodega, UNAFFECTED, and Kiko Kostadinov to name a few. While the GEL-Kayano 14 remains the most sought-after member of the running series, recent Kayano 20 collabs have us believing the model is “next up” in terms of pushing product. Now reconvening with a familiar face, Danish designer Cecilie Bahnsen is the latest ASICS partner to check off a GEL-Kayano 20 touch-up.
As with all Cecilie Bahnsen ASICS, the overarching design centers around a liberally-used floral motif. Flower-shaped lace accessories are included, and the model’s usual geometric cage is replaced by synthetic floral print. Moreover, the bottom of the tongue is chopped off for a Mary Jane shoe vibe; not unlike Bahnsen’s ASICS GT-2160s from 2023. A new lacing system featuring TPU loops is utilized to suit the change, while an elastic strap featuring Cecilie Bahnsen lettering looms over the top of the tongue.
Two different styles are on tap, led by a “Vanilla/Pure Silver” colorway featuring canvas material and black patent leather flowers. The “Olive” colorway takes a vastly different approach with a sheer, synthetic base and silver flowers.
The Cecilie Bahnsen ASICS GEL Kayano 20s have already released through the designer’s website, but an asics.com drop is expected in the very near future. Retail is set at $220, which is about $50 more than your average GR. See official images below and stay tuned for further updates.
