Nike Partners With The African Cup Of Nations On The Air Max Plus

Nike is linking up with the Africa’s continental soccer tournament for an Air Max Plus collaboration. Per @bubblekoppe, the sneaker will release during the Spring 2026 window as the next competition comes to a close.

First held in 1957, the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is a biennial competition featuring Africa’s brightest soccer stars repping their home countries. 2025 marks the 35th edition of the tournament, with the matchup taking place in Morocco from December 21st, 2025 to January 18th, 2026.

The AFCON Air Max Plus will feature a palette of “White/Black-Kelly Green-University Red,” implying a design inspired by the Pan-African flag (or perhaps the Moroccan flag). However, as with all early reports of this nature, the sneaker’s color blocking, materials, and special detailing remain a mystery for now.

While the Air Max Plus might not boast as much pitch lore as the Air Max 95, it’s certainly got a reputation in Morocco. Dubbed “Cobras” by some locals, the sneaker carries a somewhat nefarious reputation (like that of black Air Force 1s).

There’s still lots more to unpack, so stick with us for any and all updates over the coming months. Again, the AFCON Air Max Plus is expected to release during the Spring 2026 shopping window.
