Ever since helping the New Balance 550 become one of the brand’s biggest models in recent history, Aimé Leon Dore has often been the brand’s choice to help usher in fresh members of the catalog. We got tacit confirmation of that with leaked first looks at a new techy silhouette, now made official as the two long-time partners let loose release information for the Aimé Leon Dore New Balance RC56. Utilizing the Aimé Leon Dore touch to debut the New Balance RC56 allows three distinct aesthetics to take hold as the model steps into the light, each parlaying viridescent green into different sides of footwear. The tech runner / vintage wave makes its presence felt with the tone-on-white edition, sporting faux-aged soles and metallic overlays. A similar sportstyle theme takes hold with the split-blocked pair, pinning hi-vis neon green on the mesh underlays underneath a grey upper half. Finally, a stealthier, modern profile takes hold with the navy blue pair.
As for the model itself, the wavy side overlays and throwback running inspirations make the New Balance 1000 a no-brainer comparison, yet the thin sole, low-top construction of the RC family helps this shoe become far more subtle. Particularly in the grey/neon edition, the boundless material options that the RC56 can take to are on full display: neoprene uppers, mesh underpinnings, and a patent leather toe are on tap for this inaugural delivery.
