Bruce Lee Honored In Upcoming adidas Jabbar Lo “Game Of Death”

In one of the most befitting crossovers we’ve seen in recent memory, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s signature adidas shoe has surfaced in a new style inspired by Bruce Lee in Game Of Death (1978).

To the uninitiated; Kareem played the role of Hakim in the movie and had a martial arts faceoff with the late legend. It marked one of the first big examples of an NBA star venturing into acting, eventually opening doors for names like Michael Jordan and LeBron in Space Jam and the like. Kareem and Bruce met in 1967 while Kareem was a student at UCLA and remained friends up until Lee’s tragic passing in 1973. Five years later, Game Of Death was finally released with a revised plot.

Just like Bruce Lee’s iconic Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66, the adidas Jabbar Lo here takes after Lee’s iconic movie wardrobe. Yellow suede and black leather land on the upper, but it’s the details that make for a truly special pair. First, a Bruce Lee signature appears in black on the lateral side of the heel. A gold silhouette of the martial artist performing a kick appears on the backtab, and images of Bruce and Kareem squaring off are printed onto the insoles. Special packaging featuring images of the two on set round out the delivery.

The Bruce Lee adidas Jabbar Lo “Game Of Death” is scheduled to release September 13th for $110 through the adidas website. Return to our Where To Buy section below for purchase links on that date.
