The sneaker news cycle often moves at a breakneck speed, but sometimes, even we’re caught off guard by brands’ agility. The emergence of #bootsonlysummer resulted in answers by Nike and adidas almost instantaneously, with Beaverton’s answer coming in the Nike Cryoshot product series that brings icy underfoot TPU cages to their most storied performance gear. Just days after the official announcement of the series, we’re getting a first look at its collaborative debut, with the UCL Final giving way to the Patta x Nike Cryoshot Mercurial.
Given the deep well of past Nike x Patta product, Beaverton parlaying one of their core partnerships for this silhouette is only natural. It works off of the blue/yellow Brazil originals, maintaining streaks of metallic silver leather but instead abutting them with vivid red/orange and jet black. The extended lace shroud bears the Amsterdam brand’s spell-out logo, as does the traditional tongue next to it.
This soccer link-up adds to an already serious slate for the imprint, with two colorways of the Patta Air Max 90 still pending for 2025. The shoe at hand, the Patta x Nike Cryoshot Mercurial R9, is similarly shrouded in mystery for the time being — a public release date is unknown, but expect more details in short order.
