The Nike Air Max Waffle Settles Down In “Navy/Silver”

In an ode to two key running innovations, Nike debuted a new model called the Air Max Waffle in late 2024. While hybrid sneakers might not be for everyone, the Air Max Plus/Waffle Racer combo was actually received rather warmly (at least by our IG commenters). If you’re a fan, you’ll be pleased to learn Nike has a handful of additional colorways queued up for Fall 2025, this “Navy/Silver” edition being the latest to emerge via Nike officials.

Some hybrid Nikes look like they could be standalone silhouettes, while others look like true “Frankenstein” mashups. The Air Max Waffle most certainly falls in the latter category, understandably so given the vastly different eras it pulls from. Starting with the 1998 cult classic, Sean McDowell’s Air Max Plus is utilized as the core silhouette. Tuned Air tech lives in the midsole, and although heavily altered (we’ll get to that in a second), the upper features the same shape as the Air Max silo.

With all that in place, the other half of the design tributes Bill Bowerman’s pioneering Waffle Racer from the 1970s. Nylon upper lands on the base, accompanied by suede placements on the toe, eyelets, and heel. Underfoot, waffle and Tuned Air technology work in tandem on an all-new outsole.

These are scheduled to release during the Fall 2025 window, priced at $145 in men’s sizes. See official images below and hit our Sneaker Release Dates page for more.
