R&B Singer Ama Debuts The Salomon XT-Whisper Void For Inaugural Collaboration

It’s hard to reach any level of notoriety within sneakers without collaborations; it’s simply part of the game. However, there’s really a right way and a wrong way. Rather than cashing in on big name link-ups without much narrative or ideological alignment, Salomon has curated a rather eclectic yet discerning. roster of partners amid their rise to the footwear fore. Adding a fresh face in music to their partnership with Feid, Salomon now enlists Ama for her signature take, the Salomon XT-Whisper Void.

Already aiming the parent XT-Whisper at the women’s footwear market, it should come as no surprise that the outdoors brand looks to the same demographic with this co-designed pair. The “Void” sub-head speaks to some material changes to the silhouette’s composition, highlighted by a simplification of the Sensifit unit on the sidewalls, pushing it and the eye-stay panel into a no-sew, graphic application.

Aesthetically, Ama looks to her namesake, the Japanese Ama free divers who have harvested seafood and pearls since the 10th century. That results in the coral pink foundation this shoe builds on, as well as the easier-digested pearl tones one layer above. While the UK singer keeps things largely understated in terms of co-branding, you’ll spot a crude house logo on the heel and insole that speaks to her contributions, likely connecting with the aesthetics of her upcoming sophomore album.

The Ama x Salomon XT-Whisper Void releases on July 17th via Salomon channels and partnering retailers, clocking in with a $170 sticker price. Keep our coverage within reach for direct pick-up links once landed.
