It’s a fantastic time to be a Tyler, the Creator fan. Just months after the release of his CHROMAKOPIA, the LA rapper circled back for DON’T TAP THE GLASS, shifting from heady, militarist aesthetics into straightforward dance floor fare. Of course, he’s remaining busy in the fashion world on top of that. Billed as something of a “creative residency” program, he and Converse furthered their relationship with the announcement of the “1908” series, bringing the Le Fleur head’s creative touch to a range of archival silhouettes.
After near across-the-board sellouts in the series’ debut, the longtime partners are ready to launch the next wave. The models at play remain constant: the no-frills Naut-1 that threads the needle, fittingly, between nautical and skate aesthetics, and the Coach Jogger, a slim-soled sneaker that serendipitously aligns with one of the more dominant footwear trends in the modern market.
For this latest delivery, the Naut-1 takes the biggest aesthetic swings, embracing two barber-shop style colorways with tone-on-white stripes, splayed out in red/white and green/white. A third pair instead wears fuzzy fabric throughout its upper, touching on pale green. For the Coach Jogger, Converse and Tyler, the Creator lean into more simplistic, easily-worn styles, chalking off everlasting black and gum and an pastel green and gum option.
The upcoming Tyler, the Creator x Converse 1908 capsule is set to release on August 12th via Converse and LE FLEUR channels. The Coach Jogger checks in with a $100 sticker price, while the Naut-1 commands a $90 MSRP.
