You’d be hard-pressed to find a collaborator with as much juice within their brand as Edison Chen has with adidas. The Three Stripes continue to greenlight CLOT to bring transformative takes on their most treasured models, and at a breakneck pace — we’re pressing up against the dozen-collection mark in just 2025. However radical and rangy the former Nike partner has been in this new chapter, sometimes it’s okay to play things safe, something we’d venture as the Edison Chen CLOT x adidas Samba Espadrille comes to light.
We don’t want to be misunderstood by any means. Yes, the overall concept of bringing Espadrille soles to iconic silhouettes is a massive swing in and of itself. However, the Stan Smith collection that first ushered this motif into the CLOT x adidas canon pushes far beyond the bounds of a simple sole swap, including beaded heel cups and textural swaps to further distinguish it from the base tennis model. Though a gilded overhaul to the shoe’s branding and a novel suede heel strip shift from base Samba construction, clearly the thought with the CLOT x adidas Samba is to maintain the iconic black and white colorway that casual consumers can readily pick out of a line-up.
The CLOT x adidas Samba doesn’t have a concrete release date just yet, but generally you can expect this shoe to touch down sometime in the Holiday 2025 window (between the time of this writing and the end of the year).
