China has become an increasingly important market for sneaker brands in recent years, and that’s especially evident when it comes to Anthony Edwards and adidas. After checking off a sneaker industry rite of passage with his first-ever China tour this summer, Ant and adidas have a “Chinese New Year” edition of the Anthony Edwards 2 releasing in 2026.
For the Year of the Horse, adidas adds a standout gold graphic on the heel, cleverly blending Ant’s #5 jersey number with a motif some might liken to Mobil’s Pegasus logo. Baby blue mesh makes up the tongue and lining, while the V-shaped layer surrounding the tongue features grey leather and gold piping in a welcome twist. Ant’s signature logo appears in red, while the rest of the sneaker is anchored by grey and metallic silver.
The adidas Anthony Edwards 2 “Chinese New Year,” aka “Year of the Horse,” is due out Spring 2026, likely around the start of the new Chinese zodiac year on February 17th. See first-look images below and hit our Sneaker Release Dates page to preview more upcoming basketball shoes.
