Adding to an ever-growing list of accomplishments in the Latin music world, Benito also starred in Happy Gilmore 2, held a residency in Puerto Rico, and was named the performer for Super Bowl LX next year. There’s been plenty to celebrate on the sneaker side as well, much of which was showcased at “The Archive” in Puerto Rico over the summer. Benito’s first signature model in the adidas BadBo 1.0 is in the works, and for our purposes, so is a three-way collaboration with Formula 1 team Mercedes-AMG on the Adiracer silhouette.
Originally created in partnership with Goodyear over two decades ago, the adidas Adiracer is here completely modernized, stripped of the quilted fabric that defines the standard version. Dubbed the Adiracer GT, the sneaker features a new TPU cage structure consisting of connected stripes that link the heel and sole unit. Gold adidas branding gives a subtle nod to Goodyear’s former influence, while silver overlays appear on the tongue and forefoot. Bad Bunny’s signature zig-zag stitching comes in light blue along the lace stay, and co-branded Bad Bunny x Mercedes-AMG text appears on the toe beneath “94,” a reference to the artist’s birth year.
adidas and company have spared no expense promoting this release, bringing the Mercedes-AMG Formula 1 team to Puerto Rico back in August as part of the unveiling. To the uninitiated, Mercedes-AMG was formerly partnered with PUMA but switched to the Three Stripes earlier this year. The team has already released a handful of Adiracer collabs, but thanks to Bad Bunny’s involvement, this easily stands as its most significant adidas project to date. As for the Adiracer itself, select styles of the standard retro version can be copped now from the adidas website.
The Bad Bunny x adidas x Mercedes-AMG Adiracer GT releases November 17th via adidas CONFIRMED, priced at $160 USD. A selection of co-branded apparel and accessories, including hats, gloves, and jackets, will also be available.
