A Stranger Things x Converse Collection Is Dropping Exclusively In Japan

Stranger Things fever is everywhere, looping in everyone from Williams Sonoma to Jansport in celebration of the final season. Of course, on our end of things, the Nike Converse Stranger Things collection remains the chief flare-up across the industry. Though we now know all the products that’ll hit stateside, Converse Japan is tacking on some additional Stranger Things product exclusively for their Japanese market.

As we’ve noted a few times before, Converse US and JP often act as distinct imprints, so despite sharing the same title, this overseas edition contains entirely different kicks from what you may have seen on our front page before. In contrast to its stateside counterpart, it’s only Converse models in focus here, issuing six colorways of the Converse All Star, one of the Converse Weapon, and one of the Converse One Star.

The bulk of the capsule dedicates to the five members of The Party (Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, and Will), tacking on some sneaker history with a range of colorways that you would’ve been able to scoop off of store shelves in ’87. Retro plaid laces further connect to the period, while “Friends Never Lie” and respective character names paint the inside of the tongue. One final All-Star rounds out the model’s contributions here, honing in on The Squawk with retro multi-color laces and lateral patterning.

School pride is the focus on the Converse Weapon, heavily steeped in pre-aged detailing with off-white panels and heavy distressing on the sole. A further nod to ’87 comes on the skinny heel counter panel, while the green accent shading pulls from Hawkins High’s trademark tones, additionally reflected with a tiger on the inside tongue. Lastly, any nod to the series wouldn’t be complete without adapting its antagonists. The Demogorgon takes center stage on a black suede One Star, placing the alternate dimension creature within the Star brand and printing a newspaper about the beast on alternate lace options.

Again, this Converse Stranger Things collection will only be available within Japan, touching down on November 27th via converse.co.jp and partnering retailers like Billy’s Ent.
