Matt Varga Converse’s collaborative arm is in an exceptional spot, of course headlined by repeat offenders like Tyler, The Creator but recently filled out by first-timers like Vacquera and Stranger Things. Another inaugural link-up is coming by way of California, as positivity-focused streetwear imprint Madhappy takes to the Converse Chuck 70.
If nothing else, this is proof anew that simplicity can still win out in design rather than needing to pull out all the stops. Perhaps given that this is their first at-bat, Madhappy largely relies on the base build of the Chuck, already iconic enough in its own right, splaying out black, “Vintage White,” and “Thunder Daze” colorways. Don’t be mistaken, though, there’s still plenty of evidence of the imprint’s touch across this capsule, most evident with the co-branded take on the star logo sitting on the tongue, but additionally with a contrast suede panel on the heel, pinstriped insoles, a heavier canvas build, and cut-out stars on the medial sides.
The Madhappy x Converse Chuck 70 in these three colorways touches down on December 5th via madhappy.com, the retailer’s in-store locations, Converse.com, and SNKRS. Across all of those channels, each colorway clocks in with a $130 retail price.
