Matt Varga If they simply stopped at the bring-back of their Air Jordan 4, the first collaboration in the Jordan Brand lineage and one that’d go on to be a bellwether of two decades of sneaker collecting, Undefeated would squarely be in the conversation for the most important brands of the year. Maybe it’s best to call this a victory lap, then; after a truncated leak and early-look cycle, the Undefeated x Nike Air Max 95 is officially upon us, already letting loose official raffles and set to touch down for second chances on December 6th.
If some of the advance in-hand shots didn’t already clarify the colorways on tap, we’ll re-explicate them here. Opposing “Sail” and “Black” colorways largely cede their central design to the patented combination of pine green and red that Undefeated has majored in for years and years, here splayed out in the border between the penultimate stripe of the AM95’s wavy sidewalls. The same coloring split defines the Air Max branding on the tongue, while the tally logo appears on solid silver lace locks and in co-branded fashion on the insoles. Materially, matte finishes on the “Big Bubble” tooling, a cross-hatch mesh, durable nylon, and patent leather toes help this stand apart from what you might’ve found on shelves throughout the silhouette’s 30th anniversary.
In a storyline that’s no doubt secondary to this official drop, this does leave the question of where the remaining colorways may be, as a group of five was initially reported. At this juncture, it’s currently unclear exactly which direction to take those rumors; whether this is just one of a few drops, if maybe those additional pairs are more exclusive fare, or perhaps that info was misguided.
