The Nike Air Max Plus Goes Against Type In Black Leather

The Nike Air Max Plus Goes Against Type In Black Leather

It would seem that the new era of the Nike Zoom Spiridon has petered out as quickly as it came on, with the retro of the vaunted lifestyle shoe going quiet after half a dozen colorways. If you’re a fan of an equally beloved silhouette, the Nike Air Max Plus, you’ve been spoiled by comparison, never facing a shortage of colorways for the 1998 model.

True to our title, the usual mesh underpinnings for Sean McDowell’s invention are subbed out for leather, picking up jet black that permeates the wavy palm-like synthetics, the trim, and the sole unit. However, it’s in that latter section where you’ll spot a connection to more lasting looks, as the “Sunset” aesthetics that the AMP has always majored in inspire the orange mini Swoosh and a vibrant gradient that paces the midfoot shank and the Air bubbles.

Given those tropical accents, we’re unsure if this pair can credibly be considered siblings to these predecessors, but we can’t help but think of the black leather Air Max 95 and the Air Max DN8 that came alongside. Moving forward, the exact colorway may change, but this may mean more experimentation with well-established Air Max icons of this type.

As a true general release, the Nike Air Max Plus Leather is available right now on Nike.com with a $190 retail price. A gallery of official images is included below.
