Aimé Leon Dore x New Balance releases are a surefire guarantee every season, some hyped, sure, but most of the tame, accessible variety. Here we have ALD’s first-ever collab on the archival Gator Run silhouette, an easygoing cream mesh option that perfectly matches the identity the brand has curated for itself.
The Gator Run takes heavy inspo from the New Balance Gator of the 80s, defined by its simple, almost T500-like upper and aggressive turf outsoles. ALD’s pair is of the clean, contemporary variety, aligning well with the larger vintage sporty aesthetic seen across many of its seasonal collections. Cream mesh lives at the heart of the upper, while matching leather and hairy suede round things out. Underfoot, the sole appears in black for a nice contrast. Branding is kept to a minimum, led by ALD’s Queens logo on the tongue, insoles, and backtab.
The ALD x New Balance Gator Run “Cream” is currently listed as “Coming Soon” on the brand’s website. Worth mentioning too: Teddy Santis teased a blue and yellow Gator Run earlier this year, though no further info on that colorway has surfaced since.
