JJJJound is jjjjuggling a ton of partnerships at any given time, but there’s no doubt that their relationship with New Balance is highly favored among sneakerheads. Now spanning over a dozen individual pairs and some grail-level link-ups within that, it’s only right that the Montreal label gets involved in the rollout for the brand’s newest retro runner.
The blog-turned-label has been steadily teasing their work on the mashup model for weeks, adding to a starry lineup that now includes Stone Island, Joe Freshgoods, and Action Bronson to propel, tasked to propel the running silhouette to become an A-lister within the NB catalog. Each have done well to apply trademark stylings, and JJJJound is no exception.
Within this official announcement, the brand details that the white/grey pair takes inspiration from retro collegiate stylings, understandable given the simplistic, sporty foundation and yellow trim. It’s the darker pair that will read far more familiar for JJJJound devotees, mixing up a classic combo of black uppers and white trim that makes good on their trademark utilitarian approach. Off-white ABZORB units close out, making crystal clear the contrast between the imprint’s usual storied aesthetic and the maximalist construction of the New Balance 1890.
