The adidas EVO SL Goes Laceless

The adidas EVO SL has been one of the major triumphs for the Three Stripes in recent seasons, hitting the market at a point where the line between lifestyle and performance running has never been so blurry. Conversely, it’s also been widely adopted by those actually invested in the sport, and as novices in the hobby/lifestyle have sought out options that perform without breaking the bank, the EVO SL has been there to answer; now a new laceless build is looming.

Motivated by the success of this new product, adidas has sought to turn the EVO SL from a dominant one-off style into a bonafide product family. It’s why the default style has gained a number of siblings; the fabric Woven, the revamped Zip, the sturdier EXO. The adidas adiZero EVO SL Laceless is the latest chip off the block. With a deceptively simple construction to begin with, pairing a super stack of BOOST foam with thin uppers that prioritize lightness overall, the brand has had to get creative to iterate on the base design.

Of course, the EVO SL Laceless makes good on its core promise with a sock-like foot entrance, but also partially pulls from the EXO. While the lack of traditional closure makes for a simpler on-off experience and sleeker profile, it does reduce security; that’s addressed with new branching layers of synthetic materiality, ensuring that despite the new look, your performance won’t suffer a bit.

The adidas EVO SL Laceless is already listed on select international adidas sites and retailers, likely indicating that a stateside drop should be coming soon. Retail pricing is expected somewhere in the $160 to $170 range, similar to the EVO SL Zip. Catch official images of this new offshoot below.
