In an “arms race” sort of way, movers across the industry quickly followed suit as the terrace sneaker became inescapable on social media and city streets, largely through the lens of their own low-profile, slim-soled silhouettes. Yet as the Nike Air Max 95 “Cow Print” demonstrates, we’ve traversed far beyond those bounds as this aesthetic has crept along.
Limiting our scope just to Nike, they’ve taken these sort of expressive prints into every corner of their roster, from the super-stacked Vomero Plus to the workmanlike Air Max Goadome. Given how prolific the Air Max 95 has been in its own right, perhaps it was only a matter of time before the barnyard came to the 110. Here, The “Big Bubble” sneaker applies blotchy white and brown material to the quarter, merging usual lacestay panel and the topmost of its “waves.” A gum sole and various off-white coloring brackets that statement choice, with dueling shades on the remaining sidewall overlays creating a link back to the usual AM95 blocking.
