Sneaker News Shai Gilgeous-Alexander revealed a never-before-seen Virgil Abloh Archive x Nike Air Force 1 Low colorway during Oklahoma City Thunder Media Day, giving us one of the first major footwear moments of his new partnership with Nike.
Interestingly, SGA didn’t use the occasion to debut another SHAI 001 or provide an early look at his upcoming Nike SHAI 002. Instead, the newly minted Nike athlete arrived in an unreleased edition of the sneaker formerly known as the Off-White x Nike Air Force 1.
The shoe follows the familiar design language of previous VAA Air Force 1s, but arrives almost entirely in bright orange as an obvious match for the Thunder uniform worn by Shai during Media Day.
No release information has surfaced, and it’s unclear whether this particular colorway is destined for retail or was simply placed in the hands of one of Nike Basketball’s newest stars. Either way, SGA is quickly establishing himself as someone worth watching beyond his own signature line. His move from Converse to Nike opens up an enormous footwear archive, and if Media Day is any indication, Shai could become one of Nike’s most reliable sources for first looks at compelling unreleased product.
