Even in a cooler-than-usual market for the Air Jordan 1, no doubt a response to its insanely hot streak towards the start of the decade, we can never turn our nose up at an OG. The Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG checks that off for the “Royal” once again, marking the fifth time this colorway has hit shelves and the first since 2017. In the time since, the “Royal” legacy has been twisted and interpreted with “Satin” and suede “Reimagined” variations; 2026’s aims to revive the classic unabated, utilizing textured leathers throughout the entirely of the upper.

Further emphasizing their historical aims, Jordan Brand utilizes special edition packaging for this release, wrapped in a graphic of Michael Jordan wearing the black and blue classic for a Nike sportswear shoot. Jordan Brand has presented this as a more premium, more true-to-OG version of the silhouette, leaning on smooth leather vs. tumbled and a higher, narrower shape (yet importantly, still not a Hi ’85 a la 2025’s “Bred.”)
