Virgil Abloh’s posthumous traveling design exhibition is coming to New York City. The Virgil Abloh Archive today announced Virgil Abloh: The Codes at The Shed, an expansive exhibition featuring more than 1,000 objects that explores Abloh’s creative process and design work across disciplines. And maybe, just maybe, it’ll also bring with it the next V.A.A. sneaker release.
You might recall that the last V.A.A. exhibition, which took place in Paris last year, afforded us a first look at the V.A.A. x Nike Zoom M9 Cryoshot, a collaboration between Nike and the foundation that has carried Virgil’s creative legacy forward since his passing. That alone gives us reason to suspect this next showcase could offer something similar.
Our best educated guess at this juncture is that the orange V.A.A. x Nike Air Force 1 Low worn by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander on NBA Media Day could play a role. For one, unlike the Off-White samples of yesteryear, Shai’s orange Forces feature V.A.A. branding consistent with the posthumous releases we’ve seen since. And while any Virgil sneaker would undoubtedly generate serious hype, the orange colorway feels particularly well suited to a New York showcase, especially with the city still riding high from the Knicks’ recent NBA championship.
Of course, there’s a chance we’re looking at a proper release. There’s also a chance the pair is simply an exhibition exclusive made for V.A.A. employees, much like the pine green Air Force 1 tied to the Paris stop.
Virgil Abloh: The Codes will be on display at The Shed, a nonprofit cultural center at New York’s Hudson Yards, from December 10th, 2026 through January 18th, 2027. General public tickets go on sale October 23rd, 2026, starting at $25. Tap HERE to secure yours.
