Nike is welcoming LeBron James to Philadelphia with a special Air Force 1 ’01, borrowing a page from the playbook it used during the New York Knicks’ playoff run earlier this year.
The Swoosh previously released a Knicks-inspired Air Force 1 ’01 “NYC” during the team’s postseason campaign, complete with a pixelated image of Madison Square Garden printed on the insoles. Now, Nike is giving Philadelphia a similar treatment as the city embraces its newest superstar.
The upcoming Air Force 1 ’01 “Philly” features a familiar Sixers-inspired palette, pairing white leather overlays with royal blue underlays and red accents. The number 215, a nod to Philadelphia’s iconic area code, appears on the outer heel, while the heel-tabs feature the first-ever Philadelphia Attack logos. For the insoles, Nike has opted for a brick wall motif, potentially referencing the city’s historic architecture and blue-collar identity.
The Nike Air Force 1 ’01 “PHILA” launches today, October 22nd, at 5:30 PM ET on Nike SNKRS, with Philadelphia retailer Lapstone & Hammer also offering the shoes. MSRP is $140, with sizes M 3.5 through M 15 available.
