Andrew Rizzo adidas is giving us an unfortunate reminder that sneakers can take months if not years to make, and that by the time they’re finally destined to hit shelves, things can look a whole lot different than when they were conceived. This was supposed to be the comeback season for OKC star Jalen Williams, he along with SGA and Chet Holmgren seeming destined to take the league over once more after he missed nearly fifty games, as well as much of the playoffs, with a multitude of injuries. Three games in, he fractured his leg and dislocated his ankle, now expected to miss most if not all of the current campaign.
It’s devastating for a number of people, obviously J Dub and his teammates and inner circle first, but also adidas. We’ve been talking about Williams as the next potential adidas Basketball signature athlete given Dame Lillard and James Harden are both nearing retirement, and it’s been quite obvious adidas thinks that way about him too. After being a key ambassador for James Harden shoes his first few years in the league, adidas has plans to broaden his presence with a number of adidas Crazy Energy PEs destined for retail in 2026. He won’t be there to show ’em off himself, but they’re still hitting shelves.
Arriving right on the heels of a flame-covered adidas Crazy Energy is a “What The Camo” colorway featuring a ton of different patterns. The upper carries a familiar woodland print, while the midsole skews more desert. The collar appears in an almost rainforest green, and the tongue incorporates a mossy print. Orange accents on the underlays and the tongue and heel branding tie it all together. And that’s just the right shoe. The left, while not shown in full, features blue accents with mismatched camo prints in different areas.
