Jasmine Tang While the adidas Superstar is most likely the brand’s most iconic sneaker, it is certainly not the only one to have received the shell toe treatment. As a matter of fact, it was released as a low-top alternative to the preceding adidas Pro Model. In its original smooth leather glory, the Pro Model continues to expand its 56-year heritage via a new release that features “Hazy Sky” accents.
With roots that date back to the ’60s basketball scene, the high-top sees a Cloud White leather base, with a matching rubber shell toe and sole unit. A bright blue—dubbed “Hazy Sky”—is applied to the side stripes and heel tab, which are also constructed of smooth leather. “PRO MODEL” is printed next to the side stripes found on the lateral sides, while the adidas trefoil logo is found on the heel tab. Unlike these black graphic branding details, the tongue label opts for a gold rectangular logo that appears on plenty of adidas classics.
