The New Balance 992 experienced a blockbuster 2020, fueled in part by the unshakeable “dad” shoe trend that rose to prominence a few years back. A year later, the silhouette continues to be a mainstay within the brand’s roster of offerings, with its latest ensemble sporting both drab grey and black, as well as vibrant blue and orange.
As was the case when the model debuted in 2006 for the New Balance‘s 100th anniversary, the recently-launched pair features a performance-informed mesh base and premium pig suede upper. Most of the aforementioned materials are clad in bold blue, but paneling at the mid-foot and along much of the mudguard deviate in more understated grey and black tones. Part of the tongue, inner-lining and tooling at both the heel and outsole also opt for pitch-dark makeups. Wedged in-between, the tried-and-proven ENCAP-cushioning and ABZORB system combination stick to a rather simple look, though the window at the lateral forefoot reveals orange cushioning.
