As AURALEE walked the runway of Paris Fashion Week earlier this morning, designer Ryota Iwai showcased ’80s and ’90s influences as well as his usual simplicity. Bright garments, whose pigments were cast atop both tight and loose garments alike, cut against the grain of the neutrals that their more versatile counterparts employed. And amidst these high quality pieces, the Japanese label also debuted their latest New Balance collaboration, which puts the XC-72 in the spotlight.
Unlike the 550 we saw last, AURALEE and New Balance’s latest work encompasses three different colorways. The XC-72 is effectively lensed through the themes of the show, echoing the clothing’s wheat, bright blue, and dark brown finishes. In their construction, too, each pair is distinct, as they lead with a smooth nubuck, hairy suede, and velvety suede, respectively. Their adjacent details — such as the laces, midsole, and the like — are then dyed to complement, creating a tonal palette instantly reminiscent of AURALEE.
Enjoy a close-up look at all three options right here. More details on the release will likely surface later this year.
