Supreme‘s penchant for touching on obscure and unexpected Nike models for its collaborations continues as we get a first look at the NY-based brand’s next project with Nike. Revealed is their own distinct take on the Air Max TL from 1998-1999, the second of a popular line of Air Max running footwear that debuted in the late 1990s. While the shoes debuted in late 1998, this model was primarily released in 1999 and is commonly referred to as the ’99 model.
To this day, the “Total Length” Air Max has yet to re-issue to the public after its initial release. Now, it’s apparent that Supreme will usher in the retro wave of the model, applying a clean and simple white/silver colorway of the silhouette while applying funky SUPREME branding on the heel via a stylized text. The remaining design stays true to the original, with the exception of the Air unit which has been replaced by the far more common cushioning from the Air Max 97.
It is likely that at least one more colorway of the Supreme x Air Max TL 99 will drop alongside this white/silver colorway. This also suggests that several general releases are on the ledger in both OG colorways and modern styles.
A release date is not yet known, but a release is potentially scheduled for the current Supreme FW22 season which is now underway.
